i don’t know if this is the place to ask, but I am usually reading my books as ebooks from amazon (I miss the smell and touch of the paper but I still prefer the availability and ligtweightedness on my commute). At the moment the spellslinger books are listed as being not available in ebook form. Do you know if this will change anytime soon?
Now I‘m back to finishing the last few chapters of Tyrant‘s Throne, I was just trying to prepare for the time after my journeys with the Greatcoats are over by getting Spellslingers… *sigh* I will miss the banter.
decastell says
Hi Sandra,
They are indeed available as ebooks pretty much everywhere in the world. Are you not seeing them on Amazon in your country?
Chris says
Hi,
I had a look this week and really wanted to start the Spellslinger series on my Kindle in NZ (it’s through Amazon.com) but the books are only available as audible books. Is there a reason why the normal e-books don’t show up in the Kindle Shop?
decastell says
Hi Chris,
So far as I know, Amazon.com only has selling rights to the U.S. editions which are licensed only for the U.S. and Canada. Everywhere else (U.K, Australia, New Zealand…etc) use the U.K. edition. Forgive me if I’m completely off here, but I was led to believe that New Zealand Kindle users got their content from Amazon.com.au?
If you still can’t find a way to get access, e-mail me through my contact page and I’ll reach out to the publishers.
Best,
Sebastien

Thank you for your quick reply. I am Swiss and have to use amazon.de which does not list the ebook. Amazon.co.uk does, but I cannot shop there. A query to their support resulted in a very friendly but rather unhelpful answer: due to „restrictions“ the ebook cannot be offered at the moment. As soon as it can be offered it will be listed on the website.
Maybe as a treat to myself I will just opt for audible and have Joe Jameson read the book to me 🙂

Ah, so sorry to hear that, Sandra. The German translation rights were bought for the first two books in the series, but I haven’t seen them yet and I’m not sure when they’re being released. For what it’s worth, Joe Jameson’s narration of the Spellslinger books is outstanding. I believe he’s recording the fifth book in the series right now.

I have the same problem. I am from Germany and really loved the Greatcoat series so I wanted to start reading this. But unfortunately the first book of the series is not available on amazon.de as an ebook. I don’t care about German translation, I’d just like to read the English version. I could order ebook 2-5 on amazon.de, but book 1 is only available in print or audio format. So you’re implying the German translation right holders are blocking the release of the English ebook on amazon.de?
decastell says
Sorry to hear you haven’t been able to get ebook copies of the rest of the Greatcoats series. So far as I know, there’s no reason why a German publisher would block the English editions from being sold in Germany. My suggestion would be to contact my English publishers at enquiries@hachette.co.uk and hopefully they can help you source an ebook version available in Germany.

I wanted to leave a comment on how much the greatcoat and spellslinger series have ruined reading for me!!;) I can no longer read any other books without comparing them to your writing and being disappointed. I have now read through the series twice and am listening to the audiobooks – great choice of reader by the way, and am excitedly waiting for the next book. They deserve way more mainstream attention!!
decastell says
Thanks so much, Kasey! I’m really delighted to hear you’ve been enjoying the books. And yes, Joe Jameson is indeed a stellar narrator!

Hola. he leído los 2 primeros libros que están en español y quisiera saber ¿cuando estarán en español los próximos para poder seguir las aventuras de Kellen?.
decastell says
My apologies, but I don’t speak Spanish. If I understand your question, however, I think you’re asking when the next Spellslinger books with be published in Spanish. Unfortunately, the publisher who bought the rights, RBA Libros, haven’t answered any queries from me or fans of the series (I get many requests for the remaining 4 books to be published in Spanish.) The best thing to do would be to contact them directly at clientes@rbalibros.es and let them know you’d like to be able to read the rest of the series in Spanish.

Good day, I really want to read part 6 of the Spellslinger please tell me when, presumably, it will be released in Russian? Thank you for your creativity!
decastell says
Hi Anastasia,
I don’t know the exact date for the Russian release of Crownbreaker, but it’s usually about six months after the previous book, so I would expect an announcement soon.
Safa says
Hey Sebastien.
I am from Denmark, and i just want to say that your books are exceptionel. Thank you!
But….. Soulbinder (book 4) isn’t out in danish, after nearly a year!
Save me from thi misery 😁
decastell says
Hi Safa,
Thanks for the kind words about the books. Unfortunately, my Danish publisher decided not to publish the final three books in the series. The problem they encountered was that readers in Denmark started reading the English editions (which came out sooner than the Danish ones) and therefore stopped buying the Danish editions. I’m afraid I don’t think we’ll see the last three books translated into Danish at this point.
