Yes, the rumours are true: this year I signed an eight-book deal with Bonnier Publishing. It’s an exciting development because, well, it means I have a job for another four years! The first six books will be the Spellslinger series which will come out under the Hot Key imprint.

November 21, 2017 - 7:05 am ·This is excellent news for you! I hope you’ll return to adult fantasy after finishing the Spellslinger series (my one greedy wish, as I’m not a huge fan of YA novels). Keep it up 🙂 It’s so nice to see frequent updates and a high level of transparency from you (some of the fantasy titans should take note, if you know what I mean).

November 21, 2017 - 3:42 pm ·There will definitely be more adult fantasy coming in the not-too-distant future (2019 looks like the earliest though it might end up out in early 2020).

April 21, 2019 - 1:59 pm ·Not exactly a number 5 as the Greatcoats Quartet was meant to be a complete arc on its own. However I am writing a couple of new Greatcoats-related books right now, so there will definitely be more soon.

March 20, 2020 - 8:00 am ·I’m working on two Argosi novels featuring a young Ferius Parfax. But yes, at some point there will be another Kellen/Reichis novel. Not sure whether I’ll have time to write that this year, but I’ve got some ideas bubbling around my head. It’s a tricky shift because at this point he’s no longer a “Young Adult” (in the sense of the category on store shelves) character. So I have to decide how I want to deal with that. Hmm . . . so much to think about!

January 1, 2018 - 9:16 pm ·Loved the first two Spellslinger novels, and I’m 43! Dialogue is witty and sharp and I’m loving that squirrel cat! Have you a schedule for release of the next few?
Sebastien de Castell
January 2, 2018 - 5:31 pm ·Thanks, Pamela! Yes, there’s a firm release schedule for the whole series in the U.K. which is: Charmcaster – May 2018, Soulbinder – October 2018, Queenslayer – May 2019, Crownbreaker – Oct 2019. The series should be coming out in the USA and Canada starting this year and will release in quicker intervals until it catches up with the UK releases.

April 18, 2019 - 12:09 pm ·There are definitely going to be more Greatcoat books. I’m working on one now, in fact, though poor Falcio needs a break for a while!

November 6, 2020 - 5:08 am ·I [bleeped!] loved crownbreaker and the endnotes of the book were quite sad but fulfilling at the same time. Great to heat there will be more kellen/reichis novels, eagerly anticipating them.

November 6, 2020 - 8:05 am ·That’s okay, I bleeped it! I appreciate the sentiment and your kind words about Spellslinger. Definitely more Kellen and Reichis in the future, but for right now I’ve got two Ferius Parfax novels coming out next year, starting with Way of the Argosi in April 2021.
